Rowan and the Moon Dragon

Rowan climbed onto Ember’s warm, scaly back. “Hold on tight,” said Ember. Up, up they flew, over the sleepy town, until the moon was close enough to touch.

For readers just starting out, and kids who find reading hard

One story, three ways in.

Some nights Rowan wants to be read to. Some nights Rowan wants to try a page alone. Every Bellemade story works all three ways. Try it on this line.

Read to me

Each word lights up as it’s read, so your child’s eyes follow the sound. Tap any word to hear it again.

  • Switching modes takes one tap and keeps your child's place.
  • A dim bedtime look, and Bellemade saves to your home screen like an app.
  • Learn mode never records your child's voice.

How it works

Set up together. Press Make. Read it again and again.

Set up your child, together

You and your child tap picture cards: what they love, what to leave out, and who's in their world. Favorite characters become brave new ones of Bellemade's own.

Press Make

Bellemade writes a story at your child's reading level, with a calm ending and nothing frightening, then paints a picture for every page. You get an email when it's ready.

Every story is saved to your family library for good. Rereading never costs a thing, and for a new reader, rereading is the point.

Made for parents to trust.

You're trusting us with your child's photo and your family's evenings. Here's how Bellemade looks after both.

  1. 01

    A grown-up holds the account

You sign in, give your consent in plain words, and settings and payments sit behind a grown-up gate.

  2. 02

    Photos are optional

Skip them and build each character's look by hand: skin tone, hair, glasses and more.

  3. 03

The photo goes, the character stays

A photo becomes an illustrated character you approve. Then, by default, the original photo is deleted.

  4. 04

Your child's voice is never recorded

Learn mode never records your child's voice. Your child reads, and Bellemade reads back.

  5. 05

    Original characters only

A child who loves a famous ice princess gets a brave ice princess of Bellemade's own.

  6. 06

    Yours to delete

Remove a child any time, and their photos, character and stories go with them. Share links are private and can be turned off.

Far away at bedtime? You can still be there.

Share any story with a private link. It opens in Read to me, ready for a grandparent at bedtime.

Gift memberships, so a grandparent can give the stories, are coming later.

Why Bellemade began

“My daughter has struggled learning to read, and I thought a digital version with custom stories, and maybe even narration generated from a parent's voice, would help create an interest.”
