Bellemade

How it works

Every story starts with a blank.

You and your child fill it in together. Bellemade writes and paints the rest, then keeps it in your family library to read alone, be read to, or learn the words.

Every blank is something you and your child choose. Scroll on and your choices follow you down the page.

The grown-up part comes first.

The account is yours, not your child's. A few calm minutes up front, so you can hand over the tablet at bedtime without a second thought.

More on safety & privacy

1Chapter one

Set up your child, together.

Sit side by side and tap picture cards: what they love, what kind of story feels right, what to leave out, and who's in their world. Try it. Your story page is listening.

Type a name, and it shows up all the way down the page.

Leave out

Who else is in it

Favorite characters become Bellemade originals. A child who loves a famous ice princess gets a brave ice princess of their very own.

A family can set up as many children as it has, and you can view, change or delete any profile whenever you like. Deleting a child deletes their photos, character and stories.

2Chapter two

Give everyone a look.

Your child, Grandma, the family cat: every character gets drawn in the story's style. There are two ways to do it, and photos are always optional.

Way one · optional

From a photo

AI turns it into an illustrated character, and you approve it. Once you do, the original photo is deleted. A blurry or group photo gets a friendly "try another."

Way two · always there

The look builder

Your child's friends always use the look builder, since their own parents haven't said yes to a photo.

3Chapter three

Press Make.

Pick a child, add a spark for tonight if you like (a theme, who's in it, a place) and press Make. Bellemade writes the story at your child's reading level, paints every page with the characters you approved, and gets the learning-mode words ready at the same time.

Ready when you are.For real, a story takes a few minutes. You'll see a "being made" screen, and we email you when it's ready.

Rules every story keeps

  • A calm ending, made for bedtime.
  • Nothing frightening.
  • None of your child's leave-out things.
  • Bellemade characters only, never famous ones.
  • Saved to your library for good. Reading it again never costs a thing.
4Chapter four · bedtime

Here's the story you just made. Read it three ways.

Same story, whatever kind of night it is. Switching takes one tap and keeps your child's place.

Learn

Try each page first, hear words sounded out in parts, and practice the story's sight words at the end. It never records your child's voice.

5Chapter five

Keep it. Read it again. Send it to Grandma.

For a child learning to read, the same story again is the point. Every one stays on your family's shelf.
